Should ensure a strong grip, yet allow repositioning in case of reapplying the film. It also prevents yellowing or damage to the paint upon removal.

Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) Layer- This is the heart of PPF, which is the part that you can see. TPU is a flexible, durable material that absorbs impacts and resists scratches, stains, and UV damage.

Top Coat – The top coat determines the film’s resistance to environmental contaminants, hydrophobic properties, and self-healing abilities.

Process of Installing Paint Protection Film on a car

For long-lasting protection and a clean appearance, utilising Paint Protection Film is highly recommended. This film acts as a shield, helping to preserve your vehicle’s finish against scratches, chips, and environmental damage, ensuring it looks good as new for years to come.

Here’s a 10-step guide on how we install a PPF as professional detailers:

Step 1- Choose your film

Before installing paint protection film (PPF) on your Porsche, it’s important to determine which type best suits your needs. Since investing in PPF is a long-term decision, choosing a high-quality product is highly recommended. There are a variety of options available, including different textures and finishes such as matte, gloss, coloured, and textured. Since handling a Porsche is serious business, we used Suntek Reaction Matte PPF for the best chip and scratch defence.

Step 2- Prepare the working area

To ensure a flawless installation, we keep our workspace clean and free of dust. This helps prevent any dust from getting trapped under the film. Can never forget to gather the essential tools: a squeegee, a spray bottle with a soap-water mixture, and a sharp knife or blade.

Step 3- Clean the car

Thoroughly wash your car and ensure no dirt or grime remains on its surface. Also, paying extra attention to the areas where you’ll apply the film would be best. After cleaning the surface, we use a clay bar to remove any remaining mineral contaminants from the paint.

Step 4- Measure and Cut

We, as Paint protection film installers, will carefully measure the film and cut it to fit the car panel you have decided to cover. It is also essential to leave a bit of extra margin around the edges for adjustment.

Step 5- Apply Soap Water

After determining the film size, mild soap water is used and sprayed over the area where the film is to be applied. This step is essential, for it prevents the film from immediately sticking, allowing you to lay it on the vehicle’s surface and position it perfectly.

Step 6- Apply the Film

Carefully place the film onto the damp surface, starting from one end and gradually laying it down to avoid air bubbles.

Step 7- Squeegee out the bubbles

After we place the film in position, we use a squeegee to gently push out excess air bubbles, enough to ensure the film sticks smoothly and flawlessly to the car’s surface.

Step 8- Trim the edges.

If there is excess film around the edges after applying the protection film, it’s trimmed off with the help of a sharp knife or blade.

Step 9- Let the PPF settle

Allow the film to dry completely. It generally takes 1-2 days to settle, depending on the temperature. Once the surface is dry, we inspect the Porsche’s work for any bubbles or imperfections.

Step 10- Care for your Film

Wait at least a week before driving your vehicle after the installation. Also, you must wash your car carefully and avoid harsh chemicals.

Importance of Car Paint Protection Film (PPF)

The advantages of choosing PPF on car are enormous and convincing, and it’s a well-informed and practical choice for every car owner who cares about the look and resale value of their car.

Better chip and scratch defence

This protection is one of the key reasons why many car owners opt for PPF. Small stones, rocks, and road debris can cause unattractive chips in your paintwork. PPF acts as a sacrificial barrier, absorbing the impact and safeguarding the underlying paint, while also providing excellent protection against incidental scratches, such as those made by car keys, rings, or accidental contact with objects.

Maintenance of Resale Value

A vehicle with its original, well-maintained paintwork is worth more if you’re planning to resell it in future. Keeping your car’s finish from wear and tear, car paint protection film makes your vehicle have a higher resale value, resulting in big savings.

Enhances Aesthetic & Gloss

Top-grade Paint Protection Film maintains and even enhances the gloss and shine of your car’s paint. It creates a flat and even surface that looks attractive when it gets struck by light.

Easy to maintain & clean

After installing a PPF on car, it creates a smooth and shiny finish, making it easier to clean. The dirt and dust will merely stick to the surface, and your car polishing bills will no longer be a horror.
